Proposal for Common Land Swap
Existing areas of common land within Spaunton Quarry are shown below in blue (fig 2). As a result of quarrying, the landscape has been permanently altered and the current boundaries are no longer logical. Currently 192,152 m2 is designated as non-common land (shown in red). The quarry works, a disused electricity substation and settlement pond are all on land currently designated as common land. By changing the boundaries (fig 3) these works could be taken out of common land status, allowing the owner to clean up and improve these brownfield areas. The proposed changes would result in 515 m2 of additional common land.
